The Quakers reeled off another win at Ray Reisbeck Field on Tuesday against Carrollton bringing their home record to 8-1 on the year.
A dominant pitching performance from sophomore Lane Rhodes was just what the doctor ordered after a sub par outing against Marlington last week. Rhodes threw a complete game shutout of the Warriors on just 79 pitches while racking up 8 strikeouts for his third win of the season.
The Quaker offense got going in the first inning as Rhodes doubled off of the right field fence to put runners on second and third with one out and then quickly scored after junior Joey Watson traded places with Rhodes on a double of his own to make the score 2-0.
Rhodes would add an RBI of his own in the 5th inning when another double off of the fence, this time to left field, scored senior Bryce Owen to make it a 3 run game. Salem would add 4 more runs in the 6th to make it a 7-0 final.
The Quakers even their record on the year to 11-11 and 6-5 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference. They will travel to Carrollton tomorrow for a rematch with the Warriors. First pitch is set for 5pm.
