Salem finished in 15th place from a field of 28 teams this past weekend at the EOWL Tournament in Austintown. As a team, they had 5 individual wrestlers make the podium by the end of day 2.
In what was arguably the toughest bracket of the tournament at 106 lbs, Freshman Cyle Burt (18-8) finished in 7th place beating two State ranked wrestlers on his way to the podium. In the 113 lbs division, Tony Seddon (19-5) who finished in 4th place, clinched his berth into the semi finals with a pin of State ranked opponent Michael Dorris of West Branch. Senior Lane Lafleme (15-8) reached the podium at the EOWL Tournament for his first time with an 8th place finish. After an impressive run deep into the tournament, Caiden Hart (22-1) lost his semi final match against State ranked Sean O’Horo of Boardman 3-5 in OT. He suffered an unfortunate injury in the match that caused him to injury default to 4th place. Sam Murray (20-5) lost early in the tournament on day 1, but came out strong on day 2 winning 3 matches in a row to find himself in the consolation finals where he finished the tournament with a 4th place finish.
Salem will next see action Thursday when they travel to Canton South for a conference dual.
