Down 10-0 in the bottom of the 5th to the Division 1 – #2 ranked team in Ohio, forced the Quakers to play for pride. Salem would score 4 times in the 5th to show the progress they are making this season and the “never quit” mentality.

Alyssa Laubacher led off the 5th with a walk. Brooke Veglia followed up with a single. Jessica Slocum had an infield hit to load the bases with no outs. With 1 out Bailee Thorn walked home a run. Up to the plate stepped Sydney Kline. Syd has worked hard in the offseason as she became a full time slapper this season. Syd slapped a double
down the left field line scoring 2 runs. Next up Hayden Carner who scorced a ball to deep left field. The left fielder made a fabulous running-diving catch with her back to the infield saving a bigger inning. Bailee Thorn tagged up and scored the 4th run of the inning.

Elly Exline had two hits. Hayden Carner and Taylor
Thorpe had the other Salem hits.

Bailee Thorn made a couple of very nice plays at short. Jessica Slocum charged a hard single to right, hit her relay (Bailee) who threw out a runner trying to advance 1b to 3b. Alyssa Laubacher placed the tag for a big out.

Taylor Thorpe came in relief and allowed just 1 un-earned run in 4 innings.

Salem is at Canton South tomorrow.
