The Salem JH Girls Track & Field team suffered a heartbreak on Friday night falling only 2 points short of Beaver Local for the Columbiana County MS Track & Field Championship. Beaver Local finished with 102 points and the Lady Quakers finished with 100. Overall some great performances were had by the Lady Quakers in many events. In the field events, Madalynn Workman finished 8th in the shot put and 4th in the discus, while in the long jump, Clara Double and Jenna McClish finished 5th and 8th respectively. Ella Double and Molly Hopple went 1-2 in both the 1600 and 800 with Double setting both meet and school records in the process. Anna Goodwin placed 4th in the 100 hurdles and 3rd in the 200 hurdles, while Kylee Skinner placed 6th in the 200 hurdles. Rylie Troy finished 5th in the 200 dash, and Clara Double and Kami Rohm ran to 4th and 7th place finishes in the 400. The 4×200 (McClish, Bri Cibula, Troy, Alli Murray) and 4×400 relay (Double, Mikaylynn Murphy, Hopple, Double) teams both won their races while the 4×100 relay finished 2nd (McClish, Cibula, Troy, Murray). The Lady Quakers return to action on Monday as they travel to Canton South.
