The Quakers couldn’t hold on to a 4 run lead in the 6th inning and dropped a tough game to the West Branch Warriors for the second night in a row.
T.J. DeShields started the high scoring affair with a 2 home run in the top of the first off Braydon Gibson.
The Quakers came right back in the first inning scoring 3 runs in the bottom frame to grab the lead. 3 straight singles by Braydon Gibson, Shawn Chappell, and Bryce Owen provided the scoring for the Quakers.
After giving up the lead in the top of the 4th on a 2 run double by DeShields the Quakersagain responded in the bottom of the inning putting up 5 runs of their own highlighted by a Braydon Gibson 2 run double of his own giving Salem an 8-4 lead.
The score would remain the same until the top of the 6th as the Warriors rallied to score 5 runs to grab a 9-8 lead. They would add 4 more in the 7th to pull away for the victory.
Josh Young, who came in on the mound in relief of Braydon Gibson in the 1st, pitched well for the Quakers in a losing effort going 5 innings and striking out 4.
Salem is now 3-2 on the year, 0-2 in the conference and will host Canton South tomorrow.
