For the third consecutive game the Quakers fell behind 2-0 after their opponents first at bat and for the second straight game the Quaker offense answered. Junior shortstop Shawn Chappell hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the first to tie the score at 2.
Starting pitcher Adam Wilson allowed the first three Canton South batters to reach base safely as the Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead. But Wilson settled down after that going 7 strong innings and only giving up 1 more run the rest of the way. Wilson struck out 6 and did not walk a batter.
After tying the score in the first the Quakers put another 2 spot on the board in the second on a balk by Canton South starting pitcher Dalton Frey and a line drive single to left by senior Braydon Gibson plating Jake Maenz.
Wilson did the rest. After a bases loaded walk to Ricky Enlow in the 5th gave Salem an insurance run, Wilson shut the door on Canton South giving the Quakers a 5-3 victory. Salem is now 4-2 and 1-3 in the conference. They will travel to United on Friday to take on the Eagles at 5:00
