The Salem girls and boys cross country teams both race to runner-up finishes Saturday morning when they hosted the Eastern Buckeye Conference Championship meet. In a conference known for strong cross country running, the Quakers competed right with some of the top teams in all of Ohio. Winning the boys race was the #5 state-ranked Marlington Dukes and the #12 state-ranked Minerva Lions on the girls side. The Lady Quakers were led by Carly Hall who finished second overall earning First Team All-EBC honors. Earning Second Team All-EBC honors also for the girls were Ella Double in 8th and Kami Rohm 11th. Leading the boys was Jacob McLachlan 6th overall earning First Team All-EBC honors. Earning Second Team All-EBC honors for the boys were Davin Koskinen 11th, Will Madison 12th and Darius Beck 13th. Also, the Quakers had a number runners shine achieving lifetime personal best cross country times, on a course not known for fast times, which included Kenny Avery, Nick Brewer, Davin Koskinen, Tim Stephens, Will Madison, Kade Pasco, Emily Manski, Ella Double, Kami Rohm, Megan Spielman, Annika Murray, Hensley Nicholson and Julia Stockton. Achieving season best times included Darius Beck, Andy Wilson, Lucas Ziegler, Tanner Flickenger and Halle Cochran. The Quakers now prepare for tournament action. The Quakers will compete in the Glen Oak District next Saturday on the campus at Glen Oak High School. Boys race at 11:30 am and girls 12:10 pm.
