On Thursday February 18th, the Salem Quakers Boys Basketball team traveled to East Liverpool to take on their country rival Potters in the 2020-21 Kent State Classic Basketball Game. The game highlights each city’s Kent State University campus and features a traveling plaque for the winning team. KSU E.L. & Salem staff also attend the game and provide two scholarships for each school for kids that plan on attending either Kent State satellite campus. They also provide each team with t-shirts, have a raffle with one fan from each school winning a prize and provide food to both teams after the conclusion of the game.
In this years game, the visiting Quakers came away with a tight 66-64 victory. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday February 16th, but due to inclement weather, the game was postponed until February 18th.
Salem City Schools would like to thank Kent State University Salem & East Liverpool Campuses for their hospitality in sponsoring this game. Go Quakers!
