Quakers News · Salem Track Excelling In Postseason

On Saturday May 18th, the Salem Boys and Girls Track Teams wrapped up their home seasons by winning the Division II District Track Meet.  The boys team scored 121 points, besting Youngstown East who scored 86 points.  The girls team tallied 102 points and finished ahead of Poland who scored 88 points.

Individual District winners include: Jacob Monigold-discus, Caitlyn Marx-shotput, Lydia McKee-high jump, Boys 4 x 800 relay, Carly Hall-1600 m, Trey Double-800 m, Hunter Christopher-3200 m and Caitlyn Marx-discus.

In Regional action the following weekend at Austintown Fitch, the Salem Boys Track Team (54 points) finished 4 points shy of a regional title to CVCA (57 points).  The Salem Girls finished with 37 points and a 4th place finish, 9 points off of regional champion Akron SVSM.  Individual Regional winners include: Cooper Stockman-discus and Caitlyn Marx-discus.

In all, the Quaker Track teams will send 18 athletes to the OHSAA State Track Meet on May 31-June 1st at Jesse Owens Stadium in Columbus, OH.  Qualifiers include: Hunter Christopher, Trey Double, Jackson Corbisello, Josh Lehwald, Jacob McLachlan, Andre Tonkinson, Zach Murray, Camron Christopher, Cooper Stockman, Jess Paumier, Turner Johnson, Clara Double, Carly Hall, Caitlyn Marx, Abbie Antram, Haley Rozeski, Molly Hopple and Halle Cochran.
